Biden to Direct Military to Establish Gaza Port to Deliver Aid

President Joe Biden ordered the US military to establish a temporary port on the Gaza coast to ease the humanitarian crisis in the area caused by the war between Israel and Hamas, and used his State of the Union address to call on Israel to more to bring aid into the area.

Biden reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself in the wake of Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, but said he was working nonstop on a six-week ceasefire. He said the pier would allow a “huge increase” in the amount of aid entering Gaza.
