Walmart closes self-checkout lanes in LA

Walmart has closed the self-checkout lanes at a store in West Hills, Los Angeles amid wider concerns about shoplifting in the self-checkout lanes, according to an Irish Starreport.

Walmart declined to comment on the self-checkout closure or possible causes.

“We are always looking for ways to innovate and improve our stores,” a Walmart employee told the news station. “We have nothing to announce at this time regarding the removal of self-checkout.”

Similar developments in recent days include Walmart removing self-checkout at two locations in New Mexico last fall, the report said.
