Black ex-Walmart manager faces trial over hostile workplace claim

Walmart Stores East LP will stand trial over a former assistant manager’s claim that the racially hostile work environment of his Connecticut store forced him to quit.

Wednesday’s ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut cited evidence that the white store manager treated white assistant managers more favorably than their black counterparts. There is also evidence that the store manager “made racially derogatory comments about black people,” the court said.
