They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Savannah Guthrie’s new book is so popular that scammers have plotted to print counterfeits.

The “Today” anchor’s new faith-based publication, “Mostly What God Does,” immediately sold out when it was released last week, even pushing down Amazon’s “buy” button.

We’re told scammers are trying to trick readers into buying imitation copies and workbooks, as the book is currently unavailable on the site.

Guthrie told us that her mother alerted her to the forgeries.

“I could not believe it. My mom sent it to me and it says it’s a “workbook” and it’s even yellow just like the color of the [real] book. But I haven’t written any workbooks, so don’t buy them!” Guthrie told Page Six.

Guthrie’s publisher, Damon Reiss of Harper Collins’ imprint W Publishing Group, told us it’s normal for counterfeits to crop up after a new release quickly hits the top.

“If a book rises to number one as quickly as Savannah’s, third-party sellers will often create fake books,” he said.

“We are thrilled that Savanah’s book continues to sell out within hours and days. However, that means scammers are still trying to sell fake copies,” he added.

An Amazon representative did not contact us.

There appeared to be eleven “workbooks” available on the site as of Friday. And they didn’t even bother to spell her name!

“These ‘workbooks’ are not real and not mine! Be careful (they spelled my name wrong – that’s the first clue). I have not done a single workbook,” she wrote as a warning to her Instagram followers.

We’re told Guthrie’s publisher has had the counterfeits removed from Amazon.

Regardless, the NBC News star was thrilled when her colleagues — including Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, Willie Geist and Laura Jarrett — celebrated her new book with a party at Peoplehood in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood .

“A book festival about God! [There was] lots of love. My husband gave a beautiful speech… I am so happy and so grateful,” the author told Page Six on the spot.

She added: “The reception somewhat surprised, shocked and delighted me. I was really scared to put myself out there like this. In many ways I still am.”

But: “People want to talk about faith. They want to talk and have deeper connections, and I’m so happy to be a part of that.”

Guthrie’s friends in the media — like Deborah Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Lester Holt, Poppy Harlow, Stephanie Ruhle and Arianna Huffington — were also there to celebrate, and New York Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado also stopped by.
