Jenny Slate publishes new essay collection ‘Lifeform’

Jenny Slate is back in her writing game.

The comedian, actress and producer, 41, announced the upcoming publication of her new collection of essays, Life form. The book will be published on October 22 by Little, Brown and Company.

“Completing this new work has been an extraordinary pleasure,” Slate said in a statement. “I’ve dived deep and I think I’ve surfaced more alive than ever, and I’d like to share it all with anyone who is ready and willing. I know I am!”

In Life form, the author will write about her “special, strange and beautiful” experience of motherhood. Slate welcomed her daughter, Ida Lupin, with husband Ben Shattuck in 2021.

“I feel like motherhood has brought me closer because I’m more consistent in what I like… and feel my best,” Slate shared. Procession in 2022. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so consistently happy.”

Featuring elements such as letters to a doctor and fantasy therapy sessions, the book’s essays chronicle Slate’s parenthood journey through five stages: Single, True Love, Pregnancy, Baby, and Ongoing.

Lifeform follows Slate’s 2019 debut essay collection, Little weirdos. The book, that was one New York Times bestseller, detailed Slate’s perspective on the “pain and beauty of life,” according to the book’s description, and explored topics such as family, the end of relationships and self-love.

Slate is known for her roles in TV shows such as Parks and recreation And Bob’s Burgersand movies like Obviously child, Gifted And Everything everywhere at once. She co-created, co-produced and starred in the Oscar-nominated film Marcel the Shell wearing shoes. Slate’s new A24 and Amazon Prime Video feature specifically, Seasoned professionalwill be released on February 23rd.
