Human Centered Design and Self Serve Lids

This post isn’t meant to be a rant, but more to show how poorly designed or thought out many things that we interact with on a regular basis are. The coffee shop I go to nearly every morning when in my hometown has unintentionally labeled their coffee cream canisters for left handed people, so any [...]

Holy Crêpe

Holy Crêpe

The start of the Farmers Market in Penticton is always exciting as it marks the beginning of the good eating season. After a winter of eating pale flavourless vegetables we can go back to the glory of eating from the garden. Waking up and going straight to Carol’s crêpe cart for breakfast is also quickly [...]

KFC Goes Wide with the KFC Double Down Sandwich

KFC Goes Wide with the KFC Double Down Sandwich

A while back I had heard about KFC offering a new sandwich called The Double Down, but had trouble finding it. I still haven’t seen it in Canada, but it appears that the bunless wonder sandwich is starting to make waves in the USA as evidenced in this CNN news segment. Dr. Atkins would eat [...]

Japadog Olympic Edition

I do love a great Japadog, but two days later I’m still amazed I waited forever in a giant line-up to get one! If I hadn’t been in such esteemed company I would have ditched for sure. On the upside Japadog has surely turned a sweet profit over these Vancouver Olympic Games. They seem to [...]

World’s Greatest Donut?

Honey’s Doughnuts Deep Cove. My vote for world’s greatest donut! I grew up around Deep Cove and one of the things I miss most about being here is the legendary Honey’s Donut. Unfortunately this picture does not do justice, particularly since this donut was steaming hot fresh. Go there if you have the chance!

Tap Air Meal

Amazingly they still give you a decent little snack on European airlines. This little Tap Airlines lunchbox was on a short haul economy flight from Lisbon to Barcelona and kicked the sh#% out of the United Airlines snack/crapbox.

Japadog Vancouver

Japadog has made the hot dog fun again. For some reason this Japanese themed hot dog stand offering the likes of grated daikon, dried seaweed, teriyaki sauce, and Japanese mayo as toppings on their street meat, has become a must-go-to spot for me on nearly every trip to Vancouver. Japadog has been such a success [...]

BK Chicken Fries

I’m waiting at YVR and spot Burger King Chicken Fries. I had to try them. They taste as amazing as a slow death should. Between this and my Poutine fantasies I will be dead by 42.

Chicago Hot Dog Chronicles

Chicago Hot Dog Chronicles

I’m not usually a fast food kind of guy, but the Chicago dog pretty much rules the fast food world in my mind. I’ve even started making them at home. Hello coronary angioplasty. Below are some photos of my Chicago hot dog adventure.

The Great Montreal Poutine Diary

The Great Montreal Poutine Diary

I went to the highly recommended poutine establishment La Banquise in Montreal — supposedly the best poutine in Montréal. A delicious first round left me daydreaming of a place where I could eat poutine to my heart’s content without any cares to the potential health issues. What ensued was a personal challenge to eat/mange my way through the 25 different types of poutine, one at a time, on every subsequent trip to Montréal. Surely these trips would be well spaced enough to allow my poor body time to recuperate. The following is an account of my artery clogging journey.
