Marichel Vineyard & Winery
Marichel Vineyards is one of those diamonds in the rough, if you could call the Naramata Bench “rough.” Well, as rough as it isn’t Marichel is a great winery. Their simple tasting room format of communal table meets patio is a refreshing change from the stand-up cattle call that can happen on a busy wine touring weekend at some of the larger wineries.
Making only Syrah and Viognier, Marichel is a small production winery with a big heart. The wines are excellent, particularly the Syrah and the Splitrock Viognier. While they are not a winery that offers wines at value price points (the Syrah is $40) the wines definitely stack up when considering their super small lot production and the warm welcome from the owners Richard and Elisabeth — who both still work the tasting room.
