Ravenswood Lodi Old Vines Zinfandel

The Lodi Old Vines Zin from Ravens Wood is a classic California old vines zinfandel. Lacking some of the big pepper punch of a younger vine grape, this old vines zin has structured supple tannins with a dominant overripe mushy raspberry flavour. I’d say all-in-all this is a big red with a nice balance of fruit and earthy dirt taste. I like this and would drink it with a lamb, duck, or steak. I wouldn’t mind sipping it on its own, but some of my lightweight friends were not as impressed and found it “too big” for them. I don’t know, I guess I like my wine dirty.
