Laughing Stock Blind Trust Red
The Lauging Stock Blind Trust continues to be one of my favourite wines in the Okanagan. It’s playful marketing is backed up by a seriously good wine to dollar ratio. While not cheap, at a sub $30 price point, this wine kicks some serious butt. It seems to be consistently good over the past few years and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to friends of all types. A nice touch to the bottle is the blend information under the foil wrap on the bottle. As they say at the winery “the assets are kept under wrap and seal.” It’s clever all around.
2007
The Blind Trust Red for 2007 exhibits all of the great stuff of the previous vintage but is possibly even better. Pepper, good tannin structure, bright fruit on the nose, and big flavours from blackberries to cassis make this a full bodied contender and a great food wine that goes down easy. To my taste I actually prefer the Blind Trust to the darker, more brooding, more complex, and more expensive Portfolio by Laughing Stock. I’d pair this with something meaty and/or gamy and drink it with just about anyone from the seasoned palate to the person that insists they hate wine that you’re trying to convert to a wine lover. The Blind Trust is simply awesome at $28.
