Kettle Valley Pinot Noir Reserve
Earthy light oak and a hint of tart berries cut a swath through this otherwise earthy Pinot Noir. A little short on the finish but not bad overall. I’d lump this wine into the “food wine” category and likely drink it with anything from a hearty tuna steak, to beef, to a hearty eggplant type dish with some kick.
My only complaint about this wine is the price. While $35 is in check with the reserve wines of other wineries I can’t help but think of the Kenwood Pinot Noir from California at about $10 less. It has many similar characteristics and comes in substantially cheaper.
With that said the Kettle Valley Pinot is more than decent, and it is an adventure in itself to get to the winery, so perhaps that can level out the price. I love to support BC wineries and am willing to pay a little more to do so. I feel though that in this case there are some other Pinot Noirs in the valley that might provide better value.
