Kenwood Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

2007 Vintage

This is a solid Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley appellation in Sonoma, California. It has all of the usual fruit characteristics of a good pinot noir, like cassis, currants, vanilla, and light oak, but I find this Pinot Noir on the slightly more brooding side of things.

For me there are the fruitier more fun loving pinot noirs and then the darker more brooding pinot noirs. That may not be the best description, but this one falls into the brooding category. This is a good choice in Pinot Noir from Kenwood Vineyards and retails for about $24 in British Columbia, and $18 in California.

What to Eat With This Wine

  • Raw tuna sashimi or seared ahi tuna all the way! Salmon and pork are also good candidates.
  • Vegetarian pasta dishes would also work well with this one
  • This is a versatile food wine, but I would easily drink this wine without food also.

Who to Drink This With

  • No person in particular comes to mind, but I would drink this on a Wednesday night with a wine loving friend or even on a date. This is a pinot that will likely please most palates and will work for a wide range of situations, foods, and personalities. It’s a safe bet.
