Good Riddance Dana Walsh
I am almost a little embarassed to say that I have probably become a 24 über fan. For someone that prides themselves in an eclectic taste in cinema and TV shows, 24 doesn’t really fit in with the Sopranos and the Deadwood’s of the HBO set, but there is something undeniable about the allure of Jack Bauer.
For whatever reason I am drawn to 24 every Monday night since getting into the show last year and burning through 84 hours and seven seasons of it in a very quick time. Ultimately, I think it is actually great TV. Kiefer Sutherland is spot on as Jack Bauer, and the character is someone I would like to believe exists, but likely doesn’t.
In the last few episodes things have started to get more intense than normal. Jack Bauer’s moral compass has begun to waver for the first time ever as he acted out the revenge killing of Dana Walsh for the death of Renee Walker even after recovering the evidence incriminating the Russians.
Judging by the promo for next week’s season 8 episode 21, Jack goes further off the deep end as the plot thickens. President Hassan’s journalist mistress looks to be back on the scene in some bizarre plot twist, Cole Ortiz (played by Freddie Prinze Junior) is arrested, and Jack tortures the Russian assassin with a gas torch.
“Can Jack Bauer destroy a conspiracy, or will it destroy him?”
24 looks like it is about to out with some cataclysmic bang as the series approaches its final episode.
On another note, has anyone else noticed how much Dana Walsh looks like the character Lisa from Team America World Police? I wonder if that is on purpose?
