Things I learned from TV in 2009

Mad Men

Mad Men (Season 3)
Midday drinking and napping will solve most creative problems. Beware your secret identity it will come back to bite you in the ass.

CSI (Season 8 )
Sacrifice for true love is possible — even if you are a career obsessed workaholic with intimacy issues.

Gossip Girl (Season 3 )
Backstabbing is bad, but sometimes there is no other way to make a point. Old habits die hard.

Californication (Season 3)
Philandering is fun and comes with little consequence as long as you have satirical charm to back it up. The occasional bar fight will result in getting laid and maybe a couple scrapes and bruises. Don’t worry, your loved ones will love/hate you, but still accept you for who you are, unless you make an absolutely inexcusable indiscretion.

Dexter (Season 4)
Leading a dual life is difficult when you have children, but still possible. Serial killing is also difficult when you have children, but also still possible. Serial killers shouldn’t mess with other serial killers.

Weeds (Season 5)
Having a child with a Mexican politician/druglord can only lead to bad things, but in a humorous suburban satire kind of way.

Entourage (Season 6)
Crush, kill, destroy. There is nothing more satisfying then devouring your competition at all costs…oh, and being a movie star is tough sometimes.

24 (Season 7)
There’s no time.
